This novel, by Vicky Halsey, is a terrific story set in the 1500's - the reader easily travels back in time with the author's great use of medieval plot, language and style. The book is primarily a love story, and from very early in the novel, the reader gets involved emotionally, wanting love to conquer over evil and the ways of the era. There is just no way to tell how it will all end, thanks to the well-developed characters who keep you guessing with their own sudden emotional swings! I highly recommend this novel and I look forward to more from this author!
I've been missing those good old-fashioned meaty historical novels filled with court intrigue, noble sacrifice and a knock-out love affair. Thank you Ms. Halsey for filling a long empty void. This book was so evocative that I was easily transported back to Tudor England with all of its backstabbing and grandeur. Any fan of strong historical novels will enjoy this immensely.
